Renault to show off its Trophy

RENAULT Sport Technologies is on a bit of a roll of late after breaking the Nürburgring lap record for a front-wheel-drive production car again, with its RS 275 Trophy, earlier this week.

Its latest creation is far more competition-focused than the 275 Trophy though and has been named the Renaultsport Trophy. The show car version of this model is set to be unveiled in the coming months at the Moscow International Automobile Salon (MIAS), which runs from 27th August to 7th September.

The car is currently under development with the aim of it joining the World Series by Renault in 2015.The World Series by Renault was conceived over ten years ago, in order to discover champion drivers.

This new Renaultsport Trophy will usher in a new category for the racing series with a vehicle designed solely for competition.

The Trophy is the newest addition to the Renault Sport Technologies family. It’s built by Dallara and features a carbon monocoque with a Nismo engine delivering more than 370kW under the hood. The seven-speed sequential gearbox will be supplied by Sadev, while Michelin will develop a specific tyre for the package, which will have a weight of around 1 100kg.
