Revived TVR "Griffith" teased again

With its debut at the Goodwood Revival next month getting closer, resurgent TVR has released another teaser image of its new sports car, reportedly set to carry the iconic Griffith name.

Previewed some two months ago by a side-mounted exhaust snap inspired by that of its last new car, the Sagaris, the newest teaser mainly shows a number of buttons and the gear lever, the latter suggesting the application of a six-speed manual gearbox.

As previously reported, the Griffith will feature styling inputs by South African-born designer Gordon Murray, tip the scales at some 1 200 kg, and come powered a Cosworth tuned version of the 5.0-litre V8 powering the Ford Mustang, claimed to produce 294 kW. According to reports, the combination will see the Griffith reach a top speed of 320 km/h and a "sub-four second" 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time.

A limited run of 500 Launch Edition models, priced at £90 000, will be earmarked for production first, followed by series production with prices slated to start at "around £65 000".

"The new car will hark back to the values TVR is known for, but will be better than ever before. We've put a lot of effort into the aerodynamics to ensure that performance is exceptional," TVR boss Les Edgar was quoted by Autocar as saying.
