STI joins WRX in the Scooby stable

AFTER the successful introduction of the WRX, last month, Subaru has announced that its flagship WRX STI will reach South Africa in July, this year. The model will arrive in limited numbers of just thirty units available this year.

The STI will retain its EJ25 2.5-litre turbocharged Boxer petrol engine which now produces 221kW/ 407Nm. It will retain its Symmetrical all-wheel-drive and its multi-mode Driver-Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD)

Design-wise, the STI gets wide body kit, a trademark rear wing and signature bonnet scoop. Much like its little brother, the new WRX STI also features Active Torque Vectoring, for the first time.

Locally, we’ll only get the  WRX STI Premium  fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox which will retail for R599 000 – exactly the same price as the outgoing model.

The new Subaru WRX STI will be available as standard with a three-year/100 000km warranty and Subaru’s three-year/75 00 km maintenance plan, which can be optionally extended at purchase.
