Safety recall for Triumph

23.01.2014

BRITISH motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has issued a safety recall for certain models within its range. The recall is limited to a number of Tiger Explorer, Tiger Explorer XC and Trophy models.

The problem according to the manufacturer lies with the ECU. It is said that, should the affected models not be checked for this malfunction, the bikes may suffer unnecessary activation of the safety shutdown strategy, which causes the fueling and ignition to shut down and thus the bike to lose power and momentum.

Triumph is asking all owners of these models to go and have this potential problem rectified in the form of a free replacement ECU as soon as possible to avoid any problems. Dealers have been advised about this problem and have planned for the additional influx of motorcycles.

Should owners need to discuss any aspect of this, contact your dealer or the the Triumph customer care department at customercare@triumphmotorcyclessa.co.za
