South Africans bludgeoned at the pumps again

Almost immediately after Naamsa announced positive vehicle sales for this past month the Department of Energy (DOE) came out announcing a 93 cent increase in the petrol price which includes diesel going up 74 cents a litre, illuminating paraffin 73 cents a litre and LPG gas 154 cents a kilogram.

It is said that the increase comes as a result of the Rand continuing to lose ground to the US Dollar while we have also seen a resurgence of the crude oil price.

The bad news doesn’t stop there as the Budget Speech revealed that as from April 1 2015 the fuel levy and RAF fund adjustments will see the fuel price shoot up another 80.5 cents a litre.

These two increases will almost totally negate the recent spate of drops in our fuel price. Prepare for your fuel price to be close to R12.00 per litre come Easter.
