So, when the Renault Formula One team celebrated its 40th birthday, the French manufacturer decided to build a special edition Clio RS.
Here are some important points to take in:
Very little is known about the car; it's probably because it is a surprise, as is the case with birthday gifts. What we can tell you is that the car will be unveiled at the Monaco Grand Prix on the 27th of May.
From what we can see in the images, the car has a large rear wing and some new-look alloy wheels. Other sources suggest the car’s motor has been extensively modified. Whispers indicate the car will develop around 202kW. This could be down to the fact that the car will make use of the Megan RS motor. We’re not sure just yet but we hope it will. We can only plead that a manual gearbox is one of the revisions as well because the auto just doesn’t feel right.
Renault Sport Cars managing director, Patrice Ratti, said: "We successfully completed the project of a slightly crazy car. It was a joint effort by Renault Sport Cars and Renault Sport Racing teams. This Clio RS refines the expertise of Renault Sport engineers while exploring new avenues for the future," he explained.
Now we must wait and see what happens over this coming weekend in Monaco. Judging by the other cars the company is making, this Clio RS should be really good.
