Sportier Cayenne breaks cover

PORSCHE has revealed details regarding the new version of its Cayenne GTS, which borrows its name from the famous 904 Carrera GTS of 1963.

The first GTS Cayenne was released in 2007 and the new version appears to move the game on and honour its sportier badge.

Powering the beast is a 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine with better performance and lower fuel consumption than the old naturally aspirated V8 with 15kW and 85Nm more on tap for figures of 324kW/600Nm. This makes it good for a 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds (5.1 seconds with Sport Chrono package).

It also features a 24mm lower steel-spring suspension along with the brakes from the Cayenne Turbo with 390mm discs on the front axle and 358mm items at the back.

Other distinguishing features include large air intakes and the Sport Design package, including bigger side sills and wheel arch extensions. There’s also a roof spoiler, black contrasting, 20-inch wheels, bi-Xenon headlights, darkened LED rear lights and GTS lettering.

Inside, you’ll find electrically adjustable GTS sports seats, finished in leather/Alcantara with GTS lettering on the head rests.

The Cayenne GTS will make its world premieres on the 19th November at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
