Claimed to be the most dynamic model in the LS's almost 28 year production run, the F-Sport gains a more aggressive look thanks to a black mesh grille, model exclusive 20-inch F-Sport alloy wheels, different rocker panels, F-Sport badging and new boot moulds.
Based on the same Global Architecture-Luxury (GA-L) platform as the LC and normal LS, the F-Sport's newfound athletic prowess also extends to its underpinnings with a sports tuned air-suspension layout, RC-derived Variable Gear Ratio Steering and Dynamic Rear Steering, active stabiliser and drive mode with three settings; Normal, Sport S and Sport+.
Proving forward momentum, the F-Sport comes powered by the same 310 kW / 600 Nm 3.5-litre twin turbocharged V6 as the LS500 and is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox which Lexus claims will propel it from zero to 100 km/h in under five seconds.
In addition, the hybrid LS500h also receives the F-Sport touch, with the biggest innovation being the application of a unique four-speed automatic gearbox combined with the normal CVT. Known as a Multi Stage Hybrid System, the setup, according to Lexus, allows for an even spread of the normally aspirated 3.5-litre V6's 257 kW power output, with both gear seats also working together in manual mode to provide an effective 10-speed setup, allowing the LS500h to reach 100 km/h from standstill in 5.4 seconds.
