Concours South Africa gives owners of a broad sweep of collectible cars the unique chance to show off their cars for the entire weekend, while enjoying the splendid garden party atmosphere provided by the unique Sun City location.

DO YOU have a classic or vintage car? Do you love a clean car? Or, how about a car that’s as rare as a unicorn? Well then, the inaugural Concours South Africa event is taking place from the 9th to the 11th September 2016. This exciting event is to be held for the first time at the world-class entertainment complex, Sun City, in the Pilansberg.

Concours South Africa gives owners of a broad sweep of collectible cars the unique chance to show off their cars for the entire weekend, while enjoying the splendid garden party atmosphere provided by the unique Sun City location. The organisers of the event have envisioned an event where cars ranging from the early 1900s to the current-day supercars would all meet in one place, and judging by the early entries received, this dream is well on its way to being fulfilled.

Entries for the Concours and Show and Shine sections of the event close on the 31st July 2016 to enable the organisers to plan accordingly and allocate berths to the 160 cars expected for the two main show areas. These are on the lawns adjacent to the Gary Player Country Club.

Car clubs and private owners driving up to the event on a day-trip basis will be able to park in special bays allocated directly outside the Sun City Hotel area inside the resort, and just a short walk away from the main show area.

We have a list of some iconic cars that will be gracing the lawn with their presence, such as the BMW 2002 Turbo, believed to be the only road-going example in the country, which will bask in the sun alongside a Ferrari 365/GTB4 - otherwise known as the Daytona. There are many who feel that in the 68-year history of Ferrari, the Daytona is still the most iconic car of all. There will also be a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, an E-Type Jaguar Series 3 and a 1959 Chevrolet Impala.

So how do you enter Concours South Africa?

  • Go to the website www.concourssa.co.za
  • Navigate to the "How to Enter" section
  • Explanations are given for the Concours section and the Show and Shine section. The main difference is that in the Concours, the entire vehicle will be judged. In Show and Shine, only the exterior will be judged.
  • Finer points of the relevant judging processes are detailed here.
  • Fill out the easy-to-use entry form and lodge your entry online.

While Sun City is offering extremely attractive weekend accommodation packages at both the Cascades and the Sun City Hotel, entrants should note it is not compulsory to stay at Sun City in order to enter either the Concours or the Show and Shine competitions. However, details of these Sun City weekend packages for the 9th to the 11th September 2016 are listed on the Concours South Africa website.
