Toyota Europe (mildly) blings out Hilux for 50th birthday

Toyota has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Hilux by introducing a special Invincible Chrome 50 edition for European markets only.

As its name the suggests, the Chrome 50 uses the top spec Invincible double cab model as a base, and adds a number of accessories such as chrome side steps, sports bar and front guard, black wheel arch extensions, machined faced 18-inch alloy wheels, special Invincible 50 badges at the base of the front doors and a plastic bin-liner. No changes to the interior have seemingly been made.

Up front, the 2.4-litre GD-6 oil burner continues to produce 110 kW and 400 Nm of torque, which Toyota claims consumes diesel at a rate of 6.8 L/100 km with the addition of start/stop bringing emissions down to a claimed 178 g/km.
