Upcoming new Opel Corsa spied again

Spied towards the end of last year, Britain’s Auto Express has now published fresh images of the new Opel Corsa undergoing testing in Germany.

Expected to debut next year, the still heavily disguised prototype will reportedly borrow a number of styling traits from the Insignia Grand Sport and Crossland X, and gain in overall wheelbase and width compared to the current generation Corsa E.

Despite Opel / Vauxhall’s recent sale to the PSA Group, the Corsa will perpetually ride on the same lightweight platform as the Astra, helping to cut weight down by some 100 kg, while the carryover interior will feature slight tweaks with a repositioned infotainment display screen being the biggest difference.

Up front, the choice of engines will remain as is with petrol power coming from a 1.0-litre three cylinder or 1.4-litre four cylinder engines, and diesel from a 1.3 or 1.6-litre CDTi. A five-or six-speed manual transmission will be standard with a five-speed automatic optional on some models.
