Volkswagen Atlas gets R-Line treatment, still a SA no-no

Following its much publicised unveiling last year, Volkswagen North America has now launched an R-Line exterior package for the upcoming seven-seat Atlas SUV.

Available as an option only on SE and SEL models, the R-Line pack consists of twin-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, R-Line badging, restyled front and rear bumpers with unique air intake, R-Line door sills and gloss-black diffuse. A R-Line steering wheel and stainless pedals complete the interior transformation.

Like the standard Atlas, power will comes from either a 2.0 TSI developing 175 kW or a 3.6 VR6 making 206 kW. A eight-speed Tiptronic is standard with both engines although the latter can be had with 4Motion all-wheel drive as an option.

As previously mentioned, the Atlas is unlikely to arrive on local shores as it will only be made in left-hand drive.
