Volkswagen adds third all-electric model to I.D. range

With its focus on electric cars rapidly gaining momentum, Volkswagen took the covers off its high-riding I.D. Crozz concept on the eve on the Shanghai Motor Show.

The third I.D. vehicle behind the I.D. hatchback and I.D. Buzz, the coupe-styled Crozz rides on Volkswagen's dedicated electric MEB platform, and produces a claimed 225 kW with a range of 500 km and 180 km/h top speed. Said to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in six seconds, the all-wheel drive Crozz's battery can be recharged up to 80% in just 30 minutes when using a 150 kW fast charging battery system.

Slated for production sometime after 2020, the Crozz can also be driven fully autonomous thanks to four pop-out laser scanners integrated into the roof. In addition, the Crozz also features gesture control, a CleanAir system that ensures a high quality of air, AR Heads-Up Display, e-Mirror, User I.D., light blinds incorporated into the panoramic roof and an augmented reality info display.
