Sitting 15 mm closer to the ground than its sibling and fitted with a GTI specific bodykit, LED headlights with red insert, red striped grille, sport suspension with optional active dampers, gloss black boot spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels with 18-inches optional, the latest junior GTI, as previously reported, does away with the 1.8 TSI engine for the same 2.0 TSI mill used in the Golf 6 GTI.
Developing 147 kW and 320 Nm of torque, Volkswagen claims the Polo GTI will dispatch the 0-100 km/h mark in 6.7 seconds, and top out at 237 km/h. Initially, only a six-speed DSG will be offered, although a six-speed manual will be added next year.
In addition to its sporty exterior, which also includes dual exhausts, LED taillights and a specific rear diffuser, the Polo GTI also receives Volkswagen's XDS electronic front differential, red brake calipers and on the inside, Clark tartan cloth seats, leather trimmed sports steering wheel with red stitching, black headliner and aluminium inserts.
