Wait for McLaren P1 almost over

A MERE month before the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland, McLaren has confirmed that it will be revealing the P1, its most extreme car ever. Remember, this is the company that gave the world the ferocious F1; a car that set a new top-speed record by a production car.

Exterior images of the P1 have been making the rounds for the last few months, but no images of the interior have surfaced. The latest insight confirms that the McLaren P1 will adopt a race-inspired digital dash readout that gives further information relating to the levels of performance that can be expected in the highly focused Race mode.

The visuals demonstrate what the driver will see as the car transitions into a fully focussed track car. Upon selecting Race mode, the large double-element adjustable active rear wing extends and the pitch of the wing switches into the optimal aerodynamic position. The screen also includes a bank of lights across the top, which illuminates green, followed by red and finally blue. These act as a shift indicator, as in a Formula 1 car.

Exact details about the McLaren P1 and its fancy Race mode will be unveiled as we get closer to Geneva.
