Active(ly) updated Nissan Micra priced

With the all-new Micra only expected to touch down on local shores next year, Nissan has given the stalwart fourth generation model an extensive revision, and indeed a new name in the Micra Active.

Aimed squarely at the lower end of the vital B-segment market, the Active's exterior updates includes a chrome V-shaped grille, new bonnet and fenders, reshaped front and rear bumpers and updated headlights.

The biggest changes are reserved for the interior with upgraded fabrics, refreshed instrument cluster and a redesigned centre console, which on the first models can be equipped with a TomTom touchscreen navigation system incorporating Bluetooth and USB.

In addition, buyers can also choose from a number of interior and exterior accessories, while optional equipment consists of a reverse camera, rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitor. Standard creature comforts are made of manual air-conditioning, front electric windows, a single 12 volt power socket, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, auto locking doors and remote central locking.

Limited to just a single model, power for the Active comes from a 1.2-litre petrol engine developing 56 kW and 104 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Included with the Micra Active's R159 900 price tag is a six year / 150 000 km warranty and three year / 90 000 km service plan.
