GTS badge returns to local Porsche 911 range

12.01.2017

With the inclusion of the newly re-named and turbocharged 718 Cayman / Boxster last year, Porsche South Africa has now breathed new life into the 911 range with addition of revived GTS moniker.

Using the standard Carrera S as a base and available in either Coupe, Cabriolet or Targa configuration, the GTS also boasts more power with the 3.0-litre flat-six receiving a new turbo for a 22 kW power increase to 331 kW and 550 N.m of torque.

Offered with either rear or all-wheel drive, the GTS makes do with a seven-speed manual or seven-speed PDK box, with the fastest sprinter in the range, the manual equipped all-wheel drive coupe, said to dispatch the 0-100 km/h mark in 3.6 seconds. All models are claimed to crack 300 km/h with the rear-wheel drive manual coupe being fastest at 312 km/h.

Stylistically, the GTS receives a wider track than the normal Carrera, with additional changes being a lower front splitter, smoked taillights, gloss-black rear intake and central twin exhausts, Sport Design mirrors, 20-inch alloy wheels with gloss black GTS logos and new rear spoiler which extends higher for better downforce.

For rear-wheel drive models, a new black strip between the taillights completes the transformation, while a light strip is reserved for all-wheel drive models.

Inside, all GTS models come fitted as standard with the otherwise optional Sport Chrono Package, anodised aluminium trim on the instrument cluster, Alcantara trimmed four-way adjustable sport seats with GTS logos embossed on the headrests and Alcantara finishes on the centre console, armrest and steering wheel.
