Isuzu KB X-Rider returns

Back after a brief hiatus, Isuzu has re-introduced the X-Rider designation to its recently facelifted KB range.

As with the previous X-Rider, the newcomer uses the entry-level KB 250 D-TEQ Hi-Rider as a base, with mainly cosmetic differences consisting of 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, redesigned front bumper and grille with red ISUZU lettering, blacked-out B-pillar, X-Rider black rollbar and side steps, X-Rider decals on the doors, black mirrors and door handles, projector type headlights with daytime running LEDs and red wheelcaps.

Inside, the interior receives leather seats with red X-Rider embossed headrests, leather steering wheel with red stitching, piano key black inserts around the air vents and audio system, red stitching on the gear lever boot and piano key black door trim with red X motifs.

Standard spec includes a two-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and USB, steering wheel audio controls, air-conditioning, front foglights, keyless entry, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, BAS, ESC and Hill Start Assist, with a diff-lock optional.

Unlike the previous X-Rider, the latest iteration is available only as a double cab although power from the 2.5-litre D-TEQ turbodiesel engine remains unchanged at 100 kW and 320 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels with Isuzu claiming a combined fuel consumption figure of 7.7 L/100 km.

A five year / 120 000 km warranty and five year / 90 000 km service plan as included in the X-Rider's sticker price of R388 400.
