JMC’s new Vigus bakkie packs a punch

AFTER a rather quiet time on the local scene, Jiangling Motors Company Limited (JMC) is finally back with a new offering in the double-cab bakkie segment.

JMC has already been launched in 110 countries, including countries in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Australia. “South Africa is a very important market for JMC. We are fairly new in South Africa, only launching our dealerships here in 2010. Our new bakkie, the Vigus, is a great chance to introduce the JMC brand to the whole of South Africa,” said David Dai, managing director, JMC South Africa.

This niche bakkie will be available from any one of JMC’s 23 dealerships countrywide.Striking and aggressive in its stance, the Vigus is certainly a looker with its modern design, while retaining its practical nature through its robust chassis, which can challenge almost all situations with ease. Furthermore, its rugged nature is complemented by side steps on the 4x4 derivative.

Large in its physique, this bakkie aims to extend the brand’s reach in the local passenger market, with advanced technology and safety features including a 6.5-inch touch screen and DVD player (in the Super Lux model), which also boasts leather seats. Electric windows and air conditioning is standard, while on the safety front the Vigus sports ABS and EBD along with driver and passenger airbags.

The interior has been designed to best utilize space, giving the cabin a sense of roominess to easily accommodate four adults, while the large loading bay makes loading and unloading a breeze.

Two powertrains are available for the new JMC Vigus: The 2.4-litre TDCI engine and a Mitsubishi 4G69MPI (petrol) engine in an effort to satisfy different customers’ demands and requirements for a vehicle of this stature.

All vehicles are backed by a three-year/100 000km warranty and a five-year/60 000km service plan.

The Vigus, which is manufactured in JMC’s state of the art manufacturing facility in Nanchang city, Jiangxi Province in China, was officially launched to stake holders and dealers in Centurion last week and will be available in dealerships countrywide.

The Vigus will be available in a variety of spec levels and pricing is set to be between R 274 990 and R 379 990 including VAT and C02 emission tax.
