Safer Toyota Avanza introduced

Toyota has introduced a number of subtle revisions to its Avanza range, with upgraded levels of safety items being the main addition.

Fitted as standard across the range, both the passenger and panel van models receive Vehicle Stability Control, Brake Assist, Traction Control and ABS with EBD, with the former benefitting from ISOFIX mounting points and headrests in the second row.

Power remains unchanged with the entry-level S, mid-range SX and panel van making use of a 1.3-litre petrol engine developing 70 kW and 121 N.m of torque, and the SX and flagship TX being equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol producing 77 kW and 137 N.m. A five-speed manual is standard on all model with a four-speed automatic optional on the 1.5 SX.

Standard spec continues as is with the S featuring front electric windows, power steering and remote central locking, while the SX adds colour coded electric mirrors and air-conditioning. The TX builds on these with the inclusion of 15-inch alloy wheels, roof mounted spoiler and a four-speaker sound system with USB.
