BMW’s dynamic 435i drop-top

SUNNY blue skies and the roar of an in-line six-cylinder engine; there are few things more satisfying.

The 4 Series has already carved out quite a name for itself as the coupé version of the 3 Series and the convertible version aims to satisfy the niche market.

Recently, Autodealer spent a week behind the wheel and one thing was immediately evident and expected… it’s an extremely smooth and satisfying car to drive. The automatic gearbox is smooth and decisive, while the big engine offers a good blend of performance and economy, particularly when driven in Eco Pro.

However, when the craving hit, we couldn’t help tapping into the car’s “sportier side,” by selecting Sport+. Like a mad German scientist, the 435i Convertible kicks out and misbehaves, but remains composed thanks to the well weighed and responsive steering.

With the top up, very little noise road noise enters the cabin, offering a quiet drive. But at a push of a button, this BMW is transformed into motoring nirvana as the roof opens within 20 seconds.

It’s a dynamic machine, which successfully manages to combine sports car-like prowess with open top cruising with no fuss.

The thrilling exhaust tone combined with renowned BMW handling characteristics makes this convertible really shine. But the extras list and price tag is on the high side.
