Renault takes its Trafic to the streets

THE PANEL van market might be a very purpose-driven segment with buyers looking for a set guide of credentials. Luckily, the Renault Trafic Panel Van ticks all the right boxes and highlights just how serious the brand is about this segment.

The Trafic is Kangoo Express’ bigger brother and while it houses all the same equipment, the Trafic’s large load capacity adds to its versatility. It offers a 1 200kg payload and a cargo area length of 2 800mm. Add to this a vast 6m3 load compartment which is easily accessible through the single sliding door on the left and side-hinged rear doors that can be swivelled through 180 degrees for easier loading, it’s more than capable of lugging around whatever the business requires.

That said, the 1.9DCi powertrain willingly pulls the Trafic along with its 74kW of power and 240Nm of torque. It’s a more than proficient combination and sporting an impressive 7.9 litres/100km with a corresponding CO2 emissions rating of 210g/km, this Renault has found the balance between low running costs and dependable performance.

Renault’s continued with its aggressive pricing strategy, selling the Trafic for R249 900 including the same all-encompassing Renault Confiance customer care package as the rest of the range. This includes a five-year/90 000km service plan with 15 000km service intervals, along with an extensive five-year/150 000km mechanical warranty and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty.
