THE C4 Picasso is the latest MPV from Citroën and is based on the standard C4 hatchback. The Picasso comes with a wide selection of 1.6-litre engines in both petrol and diesel forms. The most powerful of these is a 1.6-litre diesel engine producing around 116kW of power and will get you from 0-100km/h in nine seconds with a top speed of 210km/h and yet has a combined fuel consumption of 6.1 litres/100km.
The interior provides five seats and seven in the larger Grand Coupé version and has a larger boot space than most of its rivals. The C4 Picasso comes with alloy wheels, Bluetooth and a six-speaker stereo with a USB socket as standard. Range-topping models have everything from adaptive cruise control to a front passenger’s seat that reclines like an old-school business-class chair.
The normal C4 hatchback has always been a very sensible car and the conversion to an MPV model could have made it even better, while trying to compete with rivals such as the Ford C-Max and the Renault Scenic. The Picasso is a great city runaround and school-run car.
