10 cars were entrered into the 2 heats allocated by the team at Zwartkops Raceway. With the heats run on a handicap format based on the times set up during the mornings' practice sessions, racing was always bound to be tight.
The first heat was won by Bradley Muller driving a Giulietta 2.0 Ti ahead of Rory Sharp in another Giulietta. Filling the podium was Marc Schweiger in a 1972 Berlina. The second heat saw Simon Boyle bring his Giulia Super home in front of Willie de Roos and Marc Schweiger, both in Berlinas. The next meeting will take place at Meyerton's Midvaal Circuit in July, with an additional 4 or 5 cars expected.
The series is run under the banner of ARCSA and is aimed at those owners of pre-1985 Alfa Romeos looking for some avenue to race their ageing cars. The series is split up into 3 main classes, ranging from Ti Class for standard road going cars with only safety based modifications allowed, through Veloce Class for race modified road going cars, to GTA Class for pukka race cars with unlimited modifications allowed. Assistance is given to new entrants on how to get going, and help on car setup and driving techniques are never far away.
