A sunny but windy and cold Saturday at the WesBank Raceway saw some close circuit racing action in the Spring Regional Circuit races on 6 September. With three single seater classes and three saloon car classes out in numbers and ready to race a day of excitement was always on the cards. -

- The undoubtedly elite race of the day was the eighth round of the National Formula Vee championship, with regional championship races for Thundercars, Formula GTi and Formula Ford 1600 while club championship events were held in the Silver Cup and Superhatch classes. -

- Formula Ford saw a day of varying fortunes for Lesley Reynolds who dominated the first race only to end last in the second race while Matthys Strydom was the model of consistency with a first and second place respectively and taking the overall honours for the day. -

- The Superhatch racing was dominated by the same top five finishers who just switched places from race to race with Lucas Bezuidenhout taking race one and finishing fourth in race two while Jannie van Rooyen finished third in the first race and won the second race while brothers Jonathon and Mark Du Toit and Ishmael Baloyi rounded out the top five. It was van Rooyen who eventually claimed overall first. -

- The days national championship Formula Vee racing saw veteran racer Dennis Johns dominate both races with current championship leader David Veringa finishing in a solid third place in both races behind Johns. This consistent performance sees Veringa stay ahead in the race for the title with an overall second place while Johns claimed overall first. -

- Gordon Connely and Derek Prinsloo made the Formula GTi race their own personal hunting grounds with a one two finish in both races with Connely eventually coming out on top after some terrific driving saw him open a considerable lead over the game Prinsloo. -

- Thundercars lived up to their name with the triple rotary Opel of Anton Brits roaring around the 2.6km circuit closely followed by George Bezuidenhout and Johan Smit in both races while the Silver Cup saw the no-frills panel van of Dawie Olivier race away from the rest of the field from pole position until the chequered flag came out. -

- Ian Billing in his Trade Centre Zlin treated the vocal crowd to a fantastic air display during the lunch break while the youngsters enjoyed the jumping castle in the crèche and the teenagers hung out in the Thunder Alley games arcade testing their skills on the various games and pool tables. -

- A fun day of racing and excitement came to an end with the prize giving take place at the Petrolheads bar and the party carrying on into the night. -

- The next major event at WesBank Raceway will be Illegal2Legal street drag racing on 14 September with short oval racing on 20 September. -
