Eight times SA Rally Champion Serge Damseaux and co-driver Robert Paisley (Castrol Toyota RunX RSi), faced one of the biggest challenges of their season at the start of the Subaru Cape Rally held in Cape Town over the weekend - and won. -

- The current leaders of the 2003 Sasol DualFuel SA Rally Championship couldn't afford any mistakes with the hungry A7 Team Total Corolla crew of Etienne Lourens and Andre Vermeulen challenging them for the championship honours. Lourens/Vermeulen were just four points behind Damseaux/Paisley at the start of the Subaru Cape Rally, after winning the Motorpics Mountain Trial in August. -

- Damseaux/Paisley started in fourth place at the beginning of day two and consistently pursued the lead through the wheatfields of Mooreesburg and surrounding areas culminating in an intensely exciting high speed chase around the Killarney race circuit with the Sasol VW Golfs of Enzo Kuun/Guy Hodgson and Jannie Habig/Douglas Judd relentlessly challenging them to the finish. -

- Etienne Lourens/Andre Vermeulen claimed class A7 and fourth place overall in their Team Total Corolla RSi. Although he had a great run, Lourens was disappointed with his performance and was at a loss as to why they were off the pace. -

- The laurels for class A6 once again went to Craig Trott/Gerhard Snyman (Team Total Toyota Corolla RSi) who had another superbly steady run. The pair have already wrapped up the A6 class championship for 2003. -

- A5 was another closely contested class, where leaders Rodney Visagie/Carolyn Swan (Team Total Toyota Tazz) underwent a classic scrap with rivals Gugu Zulu/Dave McGregor (Sasol Golf Chico) and Dolf Ceotzee/Sarita Vrey (Toyota Tazz) but failed to repeat their success of the previous event in Aliwal North finishing third in class after having broken an alternator belt. -

- Charl Wilken and navigator Robin Houghton have already secured the class N3 title after dominating their maiden season in the factory-entered Castrol Toyota RunX RSi. The pair had another faultless run claiming victory in their class for the seventh consecutive time. -

- Current N2 champions Dean Sanders/Rod Herring piloting the Team Total Corolla RXi, have had a frustrating 2003 season. After a tight battle, the pair finished second in class behind Richard Behm/Grant St Clair (Toyota Corolla RSi). -

- And finally it was the development team of Vusi Mabanga/Patrick Yende (Team Total Toyota Tazz) who snatched the honours in class N1. -

- The Toyota Dealers Great North Rally, the final event of the season, takes place on October 10/11 in the Limpopo Province.
