Visiting British driver Steven Morris and the Kaye-Eddie Racing team will tackle this Saturday’s SA Production Car Championship races at the Port Elizabeth Aldo Scribante circuit with guarded confidence. -

- Morris will be hoping for podium placings in the Kaye-Eddie BMW 330i, and, given a bit of luck, race victories. -

- “Aldo Scribante is my absolute, all-time favourite race circuit, and we shall go there fully prepared,” the youngster said this week. -

- “We tested the Kaye-Eddie BMWs at the Pretoria Zwartkops circuit last weekend, and managed times right on the overall Production Car lap record. Zwartkops and Aldo Scribante are about equally tight and twisty, which tells me that my car should handle well at the Eastern Cape venue this weekend,” Morris said. -

- Though not in the running for the 2003 Production Car Class a title, the young Brit would be delighted to interfere with the plans of those who are. -

- “The semi-works Castrol BMW team’s Anthony Taylor and Etienne van der Linde are the top title contestants - and we owe neither of them any favours, to put it mildly.” -

- “Nothing could please me more than to beat both of them - hopefully followed by my Kaye-Eddie BMW team mate Reghardt Roets, plus Leeroy Poulter’s Mercedes-Benz and the Ford Falcon XR8 of Steve Wyndham,” Morris said. -

- The young Brit will exercise some caution, though. When the 2003 Production Car Championship brigade visited Aldo Scribante in April this year, the organizers split the tin-top field for safety reasons. There will be no such concession this time around - the 51-strong field, divided into five classes, will take to the 2,48 km circuit at the same time. -

- “This means that we should start lapping the 1400cc cars in Class E by the eighth lap in each of the two races - and they rarely look in their mirrors, being involved in their own dices. Well, it is not supposed to be easy, and I am sure that the full circuit will add much spectacle for the always-enthusiastic Eastern Cape fans,” Morris added.
