Sabat Racing's David Veringa had a constructive day's Formula Ford racing at Kyalami on Saturday, when the SA Formula Vee champion put in a workmanlike couple of races in - his fourth and third places keeping him right in the hunt in the championship. -

- After qualifying fourth for both heats, David never had the start he had hoped for and later suffered the consequences of the car in front of him lunching its engine and spraying David and the Sabat Mygale with oil. Dust made things even worse, "He went onto the dirt just after blowing his engine," Veringa reported. "So the dust caked onto the oil on my visor and I could hardly see a thing!" -

- Adding to his woes, the Sabat Mygale suffered binding brakes, which unsettled the car somewhat, but David fought through all that to post a fine fourth in the circumstances. -

- Race Two saw David enjoy a far better start into third, where he stayed for the rest of the race on his way to second overall for the day. The result saw David move to within two points of the championship lead in a strong second position... -

- Firstly and most importantly, we would like to thank Sabat for their continued support and interest in my racing career so far," David said after a frustrating but successful day's racing. "But we'll be working flat out and hope we will be able to go one better for the Port Elizabeth races at the end of May," he concluded.
