Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Motoring Review
BRINGING thrills to open-top motoring, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is a class act.
The first Volante to feature a full carbon-fibre body paired to a monstrous 6.0-litre V12 engine capable of producing 421kW of power and 620Nm of torque, this is one fast Brit. It does 0-100km/h in around 4.1 seconds and will reach a top speed of approximately 295km/h.
It’s quick and lightweight so it will score high on the fun radar and for those who want to embrace topless living, this Volante’s multi-layered lightweight fabric roof, can fold in 14 seconds.
The Vanquish Volante sits at the pinnacle of the luxury British carmaker’s sports car line-up as it benefits from all the technical, engineering and design advances present in the Vanquish Coupé, the new Volante enhances the driving experience still further through the option of exciting convertible driving.
The Vanquish Volante design represents the latest take on Aston Martin’s iconic visual language. Styling cues such as the elegant waist, elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades are derived from the One-77 Supercar, while the folding fabric roof sits beneath a tonneau and deck lid that have been aerodynamically tuned for optimum performance.
The windscreen, meanwhile, is now full height – a first for Aston Martin – which means the glass runs up to meet the fabric roof, thereby achieving a particularly clean transition.
The 2+2 cabin is elegantly attired in authentic and luxurious materials, such as, full grain Luxmil leather (quilting optional). Metal controls and satin chrome trim underscore the car’s well-appointed nature.
As practical as it is well-dressed, the Vanquish Volante boasts a boot that’s 50 percent larger than that of the previous DBS Volante; it measures 279 litres – roof up or down – and makes the new Aston Martin the perfect choice for continent-crossing grand tours as well as daily drives.
The pricing of this Aston Martin will differ according to the dealership and spec level.
