In an all-round exterior refresh of its A5 model series, Audi has added new and advanced technologies in the areas of engine, quattro drive and infotainment for even more efficiency, sportiness and intelligence. The new Audi A5 Cabriolet model has benefited from these upgrades and reflects Audi's brand culture in every way offering superb top-down driving pleasure in style and comfort.
The Audi A5 Cabriolet has a long wheelbase and an extended bonnet with sort overhangs. Its distinct and athletic Coupe character makes this two-door four-seater unique and instantly recognisable on the road. Its striking body lines lead the eye to the fully automatic acoustic fabric hood which can be opened and closed in 15 seconds while the vehicle is still in motion (up to 50 km/h). The front boasts redesigned 'wave-shaped' optional xenon headlights with a solid LED daytime running light strip which frames the headlight giving the Cabriolet a determined look. The upper corners of the single-frame grille in high-gloss black are bevelled. The grille's lateral bars and the Audi rings appear to be sculpted. There are new bumper features with pronounced air inlets with massive struts and flat fog lights. 17 inch wheels with 225/50 tyres are standard with optional wheels up to 20 inches and 265/30 tyres as well as four new wheel designs.
Inside an elegant interior awaits with top-quality fit and finish. There is a newly designed steering wheel and the A5 Cabriolet's range of infotainment options now includes a Bluetooth online car phone, which delivers a number of special services and connects the Audi A5 Cabriolet to the Internet (this includes a WLAN hotspot which enables passengers to surf the Internet and send and receive email with their mobile devices). Audi equips all models in the A5 lineup with a CD radio and eight speakers. The optional top-of-the-line unit has MMI navigation with a large hard drive, seven-inch colour monitor, 3D graphics and DVD player.
The new Audi A5 Cabriolet comes in two TDI diesel and three TFSI petrol engine specifications. The TDI diesel engines are equipped with intelligent common rail technology and the standard start-stop system. The particularly economical 2.0 TDI with 130 kW is available with a multitronic transmission. The premium engine is the 3.0 TDI quattro with 180kW and S tronic. With this engine in the A5 Cabriolet, you need just 6.3 seconds to reach a speed of 100 km/h. The 2.0 TFSI (quattro® drive and S tronic) has 155kW/350 Nm. This engine gets you from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The all new 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 engine boasts 200 kW of power and an impressive 400Nm of torque. Buy a car like this and you'll fly from 0-100 km in just 5.4 seconds.
State of the art driver assistance systems are in abundance. Worth mentioning is: Audi active lane assist - a new feature in the Audi A5 - helps the driver to maintain the lane. A camera detects the lane markings and the system makes slight corrections to the electromechanical steering, if necessary. The adaptive cruise control uses radar technology to maintain a constant interval between the Audi A5 and the vehicle ahead. At speeds below 30 km/h, it initiates maximum braking to avoid a collision.
