The Mini One is a small family car, manufactured by the British Motor Corporation (BMC). The hatchback is a joint development of BMW and Chrysler. The vehicle is born from the Mini platform which dates way back to the late1950s. The Mini is a marquee which is owned by BMW. The Mini One comes in both petrol and diesel engines. Diesel models include the Mini One D of 2007 to 2009 and the Mini One D of 2009 to 2010; while petrol options include the Mini One of 2007 to 2010 and the current Mini One running from 2010.
The Mini One comes in either the manual or the automatic transmission formats. The vehicle is capable of generating a maximum power of 72kW at 6000rpm and reaches a maximum torque of 153Nm at 3000 rpm. The manual model can accelerate from zero to 100km/hr in just 10.5 seconds and the automatic model takes 12.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100km/hr. The hatchback is capable of reaching a top speed of 181km/hr. The manual and automatic models make use of a 50 liter fuel tank and the urban fuel consumption of the vehicle is 9.6 liters per 100km and 5.2 liters per 100km respectively; with a combined fuel consumption ratio of 6.8 liters per 100km. The maximum permissible weight of the Mini One is 1495kg and the maximum permissible roof load is 75kg. The vehicle provides for a luggage capacity of 211 litres. The vehicle measures 3635mm in length, 1925mm in width and 1416mm in height.
Transmission options include the 5-speed manual with an optional Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission with Steptronic mode. The vehicle provides great comfort which comes from the optional aircon which is offered at no cost, with power features for convenience. Power features come in the form of the electric mirrors, electric front windows and the electric adjustable steering. The climate control comes as an optional feature. The interior provides comfort and convenience from the adjustable seat and the steering adjustable rake.
The exterior of the Mini One features the optional alloy wheels, the metallic paint and front fog lights also coming optional. The exterior flair of the Mini One provides a black grille with a chrome surround, with a distinct black side with integrated orange indicators. The vehicle also features a body-colored roof, black matt exterior mirror covers and the innovative LED rear lights.
Entertainment comes from the CD player and the MP3 function with iPOD connectivity and the RDS radio. Communication is made possible by the handsfree Phone kit and the vehicle also adopts the navigation system. Other optional features include the Bluetooth, rear parking senor and the secure spare wheel. The interior provides comfort from the spilt/fold seats and the leather seats.
Safety and security is provided by a combination of passive and active features which include the Antilock Brake System (ABS), passenger airbags, side airbags and driver's airbags. Other safety features notable on the vehicle include the 3-point center belt, the belt pretensioners, traction control and curtain airbags. The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) also comes standard on the Mini One for great driving and stability. Security is provided by the engine immobilizer and the Locking Wheel nuts and the alarm. Other standard safety features which define the refined safety portfolio of the vehicle are the Rear Parking Sensor, Rain Sensing Wipers.
