Arnold Schwarzenegger returns from the future to save mankind in on the back of a limited edition Indian Chief T3 motorcycle. The film also features a Toyota Tundra, driven by the heroes, and a Lexus SC 430 hardtop convertible that the TX commandeers.
The third edition of the Terminator series sees the famous cyborg back to protect a now 22-year-old John Connor, this time from a female terminator, called T-X. The Terminator must ensure that Connor and Kate Bewster (played by Claire Danes) survive as they will lead a future rebellion that results in man beating the machines in world war. The machines have become self-aware and are trying to wipe out mankind.
In a stunning car chase scene, the TX (played Kristanna Loken) takes over a construction crane and mows down rows of cars and buildings, crashing through streets in pursuit of the pair in a Tundra. The terminator follows on an Indian Chief motorcycle that he grabs from a policeman. The action scene got so expensive that apparently Schwarzenegger added $1,6 million to allow the sequence to be finished when the studio became worried about the cost.
The Indian Motorcycle Corporation brought out the T3 Limited Edition bike to coincide with the movie opening in the United States recently. The T3 LE has a handmade T3 leather seat and custom engraved T3 seat cover. Each bike has a unique paint job so no two bikes are identical.
It is powered by a 1,6-litre 45-degree, V-twin engine and the engine is fed by a 42mm Mikuni "flat-slide" carburettor that is mounted on the left side of the engine, this is unique to early Indian motorcycles.
The Chief's drivetrain features a constant-mesh, five-speed transmission, primary chain drive and rear belt drive. It also has robust chassis design and swingarm configuration for extra rigidity. The Chief chassis is based on reinforced, large diameter backbone and KW rising-rate, monoshock rear suspension with adjustable preload.
Up front, the Chief T3 LE features 41mm hydraulic, dual-damping front forks. It also has wide 130/90-16 tyres mounted on 60-spoke chrome wheels.
For fans who prefer four wheels, there is also a Tundra Terminator 3 Special Edition, a spinoff of the pickup Connor and Kate are chased in. To set it apart from the usual Tundras, the limited edition features monochrome black exterior treatment, unique grille with offset "T3" identification, Borla dual exhaust system, metal dash accents, special Teminator 3 decals plus 17" titanium painted alloy wheels.
"Terminator 3 is the quintessential action movie and the Toyota Tundra fits perfectly because it's tough, durable and unstoppable, which is what's needed in the wild chase scenes," said Deborah Wahl Meyer, Toyota corporate marketing communications manager.
