As a precautionary measure, VWSA has asked the owners of certain imported Passat and Audi models produced between 1994 and 1999 to have their vehicles checked at their local dealers.

The check involves the examination of the front bearing arm and, where necessary, the free replacement of it. VWSA says the arm is normally checked during regular services, and the request is an extra precautionary measure.

The safety checks apply to VW Passat models produced between June 1996 and December 1999. They also apply to Audi A4 and A8 models produced from May 1994, and A6 models from June 1997 to December 1999.

The policy has been implemented in all affected markets worldwide and the check can be completed quickly. Volkswagen and Audi dealerships can be contacted for more information.
