Audi’s innovative Direct Shift Gearbox has helped the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer win the FuturAuto Award 2004. It was awarded by the Belgian press “in recognition of technology that would benefit the car driver”.
The innovative technical developments used in Audi's Direct Shift Gearbox has ensured the manufacturer the FuturAuto Award 2004 – handed out by the Belgian press in recognition of technology which would benefit the car driver.
Available in the Audi TT Coupé and Roadster as well as certain A3 models, this gearbox makes it possible for drivers to enjoy great agility and lively acceleration in the optimum torque range.
The Association of Belgian Motoring Journalists, which presents this award yearly, said the gearbox technology combines the benefits of a six-speed manual gearbox and modern automatic. The technology employed in the DSG makes it possible to change gear without interrupting the flow of power.
