Giles Taylor has spent the past five years designing cars for Rolls-Royce, which falls under the BMW Group banner. The next step in his career has been confirmed as he joins one of China’s leading automotive groups, FAW.
Taylor will be designing cars for the group’s luxury Hongqi sub-brand as he steps in as global vice president of design and chief creative officer. He will be stationed in Munich, Germany at the new FAW advanced design centre.
He expressed his excitement at joining the FAW group upon becoming a formal member.
"I am very much looking forward to embarking on an exciting new career path with FAW. HONGQI, as the oldest and most famous Chinese car brand, carries with it a deeply significant and diverse cultural history. There are many inspirational elements surrounding the marque with which to create fresh, modern vehicles for the new era. I look forward to working with the FAW Executive team to deliver this fascinating mission for HONGQI as well as exciting future products for FAW," Taylor said.
FAW representatives have also stated that Taylor’s arrival will advance the brand in terms of global design thanks to his deep understanding of design trends.
