Jaguar has announced local pricing for its I-Pace ahead of the launch of the new electric vehicle in South Africa in early 2019.
The battery-powered SUV will be offered locally in three trim levels (S, SE and HSE), while a limited run of “First Edition” models will act as range-toppers for one year.
Pricing kicks off at R1 687 200 for the I-Pace S, while the SE derivative starts at R1 745 400 and the HSE at R1 820 900. The flagship First Edition, meanwhile, will set you back R1 920 700.
Jaguar says pricing for home charging stations will be announced closer to launch (although home charging cables compatible with normal wall sockets will ship standard).
Regardless of trim level, the I-Pace draws its urge from a 90 kWh battery sited in the floor, feeding two axle-mounted (one fore and one aft) synchronous electric motors paired with a concentric single-speed transmission.
Peak outputs come in at 294 kW and 696 N.m, which the Coventry-based brand says is enough for a zero to 100 km/h dash of 4,8 seconds. A single full charge, meanwhile, will provide a range of “up to 470 km” (on the latest WLTP cycle).
The S trim level will include 20-inch six-spoke alloys, LED headlamps, heated side-mirrors, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, a 12,3-inch interactive driver display, a Meridian sound system, Navigation Pro, a reversing camera, cruise control and a parking assistance package. The SE adds daytime running lights, a powered tailgate, grained leather sport seats, ten-way electrically adjustable front seats (with a memory function), adaptive cruise control and blind spot assist.
The HSE furthermore features special five-spoke 20-inch alloys, Matrix LED headlamps, a gesture function for the powered tailgate, Windsor leather sport seats, 18-way power-adjustable front seats (with heating and cooling functions) and heated rear seats.
The Jaguar I-Pace First Edition is based on the HSE trim grade but adds 20-inch split-spoke alloy wheels (in a grey finish), a panoramic roof, a heated windscreen, a heated steering wheel, the brand’s Activity Key, active air suspension, metal treadplates with “First Edition” branding and configurable ambient interior lighting.
The First Edition specification furthermore includes “Photon Red” paint and a choice of Ebony or Light Oyster interior in combination with suede-cloth headlining and Gloss Charcoal Ash veneer.
