Mercedes-Benz has confirmed a new Mercedes-AMG CLA35 4Matic is on the way, publishing the first teaser image on its various social media channels.

The photograph – which shows the CLA35 badge below a taillamp and slim boot spoiler – is accompanied by the following caption: “Stunning from every angle. The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4Matic. More to come”.

Finished in the same “Sun Yellow” hue as first seen on the A35 hatchback, Mercedes-Benz says the new CLA35 will consume between 7,2 and 7,3 L/100 km.

Of course, since the firm earlier launched the aforementioned A35 hatch as well as the A35 sedan, we already know what the Affalterbach-based performance division will drop into the engine bay. Yes, the swoopy sedan (based on the second-generation model) will inherit the firm’s turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 225 kW and 400 N.m to all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

While Mercedes-Benz has yet to announce when the CLA35 will be fully revealed, chances are the covers will come off at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. Of course, we can expect an even more powerful CLA (wearing the "45" badge) at a later date, too...
