Adding to the rather niche exotic speedster market is boutique supercar manufacturer Ares with this S1 Project Spyder. Based on the S1 Project Coupe, only 24 of these open-top hypercars will be produced.
In true speedster fashion, the S1 Project Spyder does away with a roof and windscreen. Instead, it gets an advanced pair of aerodynamic deflectors placed just before the cockpit. These deflectors direct the airflow over the heads of the inhabitants, towards the air intakes located behind the headrests. This claims to mitigate turbulence from entering the cabin.
Without the windshield, the carbon fibre body flows into the cockpit and divides the driver and passenger. The interior is handcrafted with fine Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery and is further accentuated by sleek and minimal lines with the infotainment system fitted to the centre console and dashboard.
Powering the S1 Project Spyder is a naturally aspirated 6,2-litre V8, sourced from the new Chevrolet Corvette, with a rev limit of 8 800 r/min. Using a bespoke exhaust system and revised the engine ECU, this mid-mounted powerplant delivers 522 kW and 969 N.m of torque to the rear wheels throught an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which grants it a 0-100 km/h time of 2,7 seconds.
