The new Hyundai Venue is set to launch in South Africa soon, and we have unearthed the starting price of the five-strong local range.
[UPDATE: Check out full pricing here!]
All five variants of the baby SUV will be powered by the Korean firm’s turbocharged 1,0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. While local specifications have yet to be released, it's worth bearing in mind this engine offers 88 kW and 172 N.m in the larger Kona.
So, what sort of cash are we talking about here? Well, the Venue line-up is set to kick off at R274 900. Pricing for the remainder of the range will be revealed closer to the launch.
The local Venue range will start with the entry-level Motion trim level, offered in conjunction with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The mid-spec Fluid model will likewise be available with this choice of cog-swapper, while the flagship Glide variant will be offered exclusively in dual-clutch form.
The fresh-faced Venue, revealed at the 2019 New York International Auto Show in April, will slot in at the bottom of the Korean brand’s burgeoning SUV range, below the Kona and Creta, with Hyundai billing it as the “most affordable” SUV in its line-up. While its general (boxy) proportions may well remind you of the Creta, the entry-level Venue is actually quite a bit smaller.
The Venue will be produced in South Korea and India, with SA-spec models set to be imported from the latter.
