Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has introduced an updated version of its Outlander, which interestingly comes in some R60 000 less expensive than before.
While the previous Outlander 2,4 GLS Exceed variant was offered locally at R559 995, this tweaked version (which drops the “Exceed” moniker) starts at R499 995.
The Japanese firm’s local arm says the updated seven-seater Outlander gains fresh styling and “many new features”. As before, power comes from a naturally aspirated 2,4-litre petrol engine offering an unchanged 123 kW and 222 N.m to all four corners via a continuously variable transmission.
According to Mitsubishi, the refreshed Outlander now features electric lumbar support and seat heating for the front pews as well as an electric parking brake. In terms of design, it gains a new front bumper and grille, different alloy wheels and a fresh rear bumper.
In addition, there’s a new storage space for the tonneau cover behind the third row of seats, while a new eight-inch touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) has been adopted. Mitsubishi SA also says the Outlander features "upgraded" leather seats, new facia trim (repeated on the door panels), auto up/down functions for all electric windows and additional storage for the rear passengers (who also gain dedicated USB ports).
As before, the Outlander ships standard with a three-year/100 000 km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).
