A high-ranking Mercedes-Benz executive has refused to rule out the possibility of the Stuttgart-based firm further expanding its already extensive compact vehicle range.

Speaking to Autocar, Mathias Geisen, the Stuttgart-based company’s director of compact car product management, suggested that while there were no immediate plans to grow the line-up, such a move was not beyond the realms of possibility.

“Ten years ago, nobody expected we would offer eight compact cars, so never say never. But we’ve got a really good balance now,” Geisen told the British publication.

The new GLB revealed in June 2019 is the eighth member of the compact vehicle family, behind the A-Class Hatchback, A-Class Sedan, A-Class L Sedan (offered exclusively in China), CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA and B-Class.
