Back in October 2018, Volkswagen seemingly revealed the taillamp design of the new Golf 8. And now the Wolfsburg-based brand has shown off a design sketch of the upcoming eighth generation of its C-segment hatchback.
The simple sketch you see above was revealed during the 2018 version of the Volkswagen brand annual session in Germany.
In said video, VW confirms the Golf 8 will debut in the second half of 2019, describing the hatchback as the “brand’s most important and familiar model for over 40 years”.
As we’ve reported earlier, production of the new Golf 8 is scheduled to start in June 2019.
The automaker furthermore promised the next-generation Golf would “not only feature all those proven characteristics loved and cherished by customers, but will in addition be fully connected”.
“You could say that the new Golf opens the door on the digital world of Volkswagen,” the automaker added.
This lines up with a report out of Germany from earlier in 2018 suggested the upcoming version of Golf would boast a dual-screen cockpit to rival that of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
